This April, the
Cheshire Academy Language DepartmentIMG_8230 celebrated International Poetry Month by participating in the Connecticut Council of Language Teachers (COLT) Poetry Contest on April 6. The event was hosted by East Haven High School in East Haven, Connecticut. There were approximately 600 students from 53 schools who competed in 16 languages.

To be considered for the COLT Poetry Contest, Cheshire Academy teachers had contests in their own classrooms to see which student best presented a poem in the foreign language they study. The Language Department chose one student from each level of each language to participate. Cheshire Academy students recited Spanish, Mandarin, French, and English poems. Language Teachers Ms. Burnett and Mr. Lamontagne accompanied the attendees. They were largely responsible for organizing Cheshire Academy’s attendance.
