You think you have all the time in the world once winter break hits… then BAM! It’s almost the end of January!
While we are a “rolling admission” school (meaning: you can technically apply at any point in the year) we still hold our main admission deadline for the upcoming academic year (re: Fall 2013!) at the end of January. This year, the application deadline falls on January 31st, though if you haven’t yet been able to schedule an interview and campus visit by this date, simply contact admissions and set one up for February! Just be sure to get all of your application materials and recommendations in on time; you can apply on-line or download a copy of the application here. Once we receive all of your information and thoroughly review your application, you will be notified of an admissions decision by mid-March!
Need some tips or advice on applying? Check out some of our previous blog posts or contact us in admissions with any questions. We also have a page of helpful admission links that may answer some of your important questions. If for some reason you are unable to apply by the deadline or may still be waiting on transcripts of recommendations to arrive, let us know and we can help you figure out the next step! The more you keep in touch, the better we can assist you in the application process!
Have you been on campus for your visit yet? If not, now is a great time to set one up! Please be in touch with the Admission Office to get on our calendar! We are looking forward to seeing you soon. In the meantime, here is a great article on school visits and some tips on things to look for while you are here!
As an applicant to The Academy there are several steps you have to complete to be considered for admission. If you have already visited campus and had an interview you are one step closer to completing the process! If you haven’t been to campus email us at: firstname.lastname@example.org to get on the calendar! Below you will find the checklist of things you need to get done before February 1st. Please be in touch if you have any questions!
You’ve asked one of the most important questions! After looking over what Cheshire Academy has to offer, you may decide you’d like to submit your application and see what happens. Keep in mind that Cheshire Academy accepts students all year round (referred to as rolling admissions), however the regular decision deadline, which is important for available space and financial aid consideration, is February 1. Talk to your family—and your admission counselor—to decide when the best time to apply might be for you. Once you contact us for more information, we’ll set you up with your own personal counselor who will guide you and your family through the process.
Applicants and their families are required to visit Cheshire for a tour and an interview with one of the members of our admission team. (Want to learn more about what the
interview involves? Check out what Assistant Director, Tia Lazarus, has to say!)
We give tours and interviews throughout the week, Monday-Friday, all year round! You may need to take a day off from school to visit, but sometimes CA is in session when your school is out, so we’ll help you figure out a time that works best. It’s always a good idea to visit during the school year so you can see campus life in full swing, and one of our student tour guides can offer you a real-life perspective on classes, clubs, social life, and boarding.
If you are unable to visit campus due to distance or a special circumstance, the campus visit and personal interview may be replaced by a webcam interview. To schedule your visit, you can call the Admissions office at 203-439-7250 or just email us!
The application can be broken down into eight parts: two parts will be filled out by you, three parts will be filled out by your parents, and the remaining three parts will be filled out by your current school. You can find the complete application in our viewbook, but it will also be mailed to you in the admission packet we send out to you once you request information. You can also also apply online. Alternatively, you can complete the Common Application available on The Association of Boarding Schools website. The complete application must be submitted by February 1 in order to receive an admission decision by March 10.
While younger candidates can take the SSAT or ISEE, if you are applying to enter grade 12 or a post-graduate year, results from a recent ACT, PSAT or SAT are preferred.
If English is not your native language, you must submit scores from a TOEFL (Test of English as a Second Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) exam.
As long as your application, interview and visit, and standardized testing results are complete by February 1, you will be notified of the Admission Committee’s enrollment decision on or around March 10. Applications received after February 1 will be considered on a space-available basis.
Remember: Don’t hesitate to contact us for help with any of these steps! That’s what we’re here for!
